Circular - Corona Virus Pandemic

TO ALL THE PARISH SCC COORDINATORS

Archdiocese of Bombay

My dear Collaborators,

I am writing these lines with a special request in mind:

I am sure you will realize that the spread of the Corona Virus continues to be a threat to the lives of our people. As of now, 492 people of our country have been detected with the symptoms of the virus, while 9 Indians have died due to COVID-19.

A number of our people live in the chawls and slums. Others may be senior citizens who do not haveanyone to attend to their needs. Some of these people, perhaps, could be finding it extremely difficult to get their daily food and other essential items. As humans, and most importantly, as followers of Jesus Christ, who felt compassion for His people, may I request you to keep all the channels of communication open, so that the needs of the poor and the deprived are attended to immediately. Together, let us translate the love of Jesus into action so that we ensure that “no one is in want”.

Do keep in touch with the families of your Community through a telephone call. Hearing a friendly voice, at times like these, can be very uplifting. Let your message be one of hope and caring. Urge others to pray and keep them abreast of the availability of the Eucharist and other devotions online.

Do keep the quarantine at home,as advised by the Government. May the days ahead be opportunities for you to bond with your family.

Let uscollectively pray for the control of the spread of the Coronavirus so that all of us may feel stronger, when we finally emerge from this pandemic, and show that we are indeed a loving, caring and sharing community.

Stay safe. Stay well.

Thank you and God bless you.

Yours sincerely,

Barthol Barretto

Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay &

Bishop in-charge of the SCCs, Archdiocese of Bombay
