Visiting Families with Empathy

As part of the IMFE course, the trainees from St. Joseph Parish, Mira Road, organised a session on Family Visitation in Our Clusters conducted by Archdiocese resource person Jacintha Vales. The session highlighted that family visitation is more than a social call—it is a pastoral ministry of listening, empathy and accompaniment. Through an engaging role-play and reflection, trainees learned to listen without judgement, understand family struggles and build relationships through regular follow-up.

The animators appreciated the practical and relatable session, sharing that it helped them recognise the importance of listening before responding and accompanying families rather than trying to correct them. The session encouraged animators to approach every home with the heart of a shepherd.We sincerely thank Parish Priest, Fr. Lawrence D’Cunha, for his support  to conduct this meaningful training.
