A small gesture of service goes a long way in the hearts of those who receive it unexpectedly. A huge parish like St. Anthony’s Church, Vakola, is one such neighbourhood where the spirit of service does not cease to end. And the team of priests and PPC members ensured that gratitude was conveyed to its parishioners through an event – Appreciation Day.
Appreciation Day was celebrated on 1st May 2025 to greet each parishioner actively involved in one or more ministries of the church. From animators of Small Christian Communities to different cells and associations of the parish and those animating the Eucharistic celebration, all were invited to be part of a celebration crafted to felicitate them.
Passes were sold to have a clear estimate of guests who whole heartedly accepted the invitation and the amount refunded on the day of the event. The church grounds were decorated elaborately with a stage, a selfie point, seating arrangements accompanied with round tables to savour a sumptuous feast of treats including appetizers, main course and dessert.
The spirit of fellowship was maintained throughout with fun games to engage the audience, song and dance to lift everyone’s spirit while sipping on welcome thirst quenchers. The hosts of the evening were vibrant parish youth who ensured that there was full on engagement of all present.
Special thanks to reverend Fr. Francis Carvalho and to the priest team for spearheading this initiative to thank the church that proclaims Christ through their zeal and commitment.
